8 BestLife™ Introduces NEW Soy Diet Shake
We are pleased to offer our customers a superior Soy Diet Shake/Meal Replacement. We have been developing this product for over six months now and have incorporated health advantages not found in any other product of this type. Our new Sammi’s Best™ Soy Diet Shake will contain health-promoting probiotics and still be lactose free. The diet shake will include better ingredients than competitive products and have an excellent nutritional profile with chelated trace minerals and fiber. A natural fructo-oligosaccharide will feed and maintain the Acidophilus and Bifidus cultures in place of lactose. This has been independently documented and will enable vegetarians and people with severe lactose intolerance to benefit from probiotics, which are so important to overall health and proper digestion.

The low fat soy diet shake will contain 12 grams of soy protein, complex carbohydrates, plenty of healthy fiber, and only 200 calories. You can use one product to make sure you get the vitamins, minerals, protein, fiber, carbohydrates and essential fats you need. You will be pleased to see how much more you get for a lot less money. The diet shake will be available in chocolate and vanilla. Sammi’s Best™ Soy Diet Shake/Meal Replacement will be available November 2001.

8 What About Organic Foods
We are all in favor of more natural organic growing practices, but not consumer exploitation. We buy many organically grown ingredients, some certified and some not. The term organic, however, does not always mean you get a healthier or safer food. Organic may be just as misleading as “fat free” or “natural” on labels. For example, organic does not guarantee it to be GMO free. We do not agree with charging you twice as much for organic certification that is meaningless. There are some foods where there is no health or purity advantage between the certified organic and non-certified. Remember, the majority of totally organic crops in the world are not certified. We pay more for the certified ingredients when it truly makes a difference in quality or higher trace mineral content. We use no ingredient when there is any question as to its healthfulness or purity.

8 Non-GMO
Non-GMO foods are becoming an issue for more countries. Other countries like Brazil and Japan have joined with European countries regarding the sale of genetically modified crops with more stringent guidelines. Tests for GMO will include all seed crops, although soy is getting the most attention. We have had our product independently tested for any GMO to make sure our product will pass the stricter European tests. We are also independently verifying that our entire product is GMO-free for peace of mind, if the worldwide opponents of GM seeds are correct. We try to base our opinions on fact, not the hyperbole. We examine this issue every month, looking at all research and new developments around the world.

8 Sammi's Best™ Whey & Rice
Two thirds of the world’s population has digestive problems with bovine milk. Ninety percent of people of African and Asian decent are lactose intolerant. Seventy percent of Hispanics are lactose intolerant. Lactose or milk sugar intolerance is another way of saying the body does not produce enough lactase enzymes on its own to break down the amount of lactose being ingested. People who have true allergies to bovine milk may be reacting to the calcium caseinate or insoluble casein in milk. Insoluble casein may cause ear infections, sinus congestion, skin rashes, hyperactivity, etc. Lactose may produce stomach and digestive-related discomfort. There also may be reactions to residual contaminants like antibiotics or pesticides in the milk.

Whey is a dairy product from the making of cheese. Whey by itself is high in lactose, but when it is concentrated the lactose is reduced. You will notice that our Sammi’s Best™ Whey & Rice has less sugar than cow’s milk, even though we have added Rice Syrup Solids and Maltodextrin as well as fructose or fruit sugar. This is to replace the high percentage of lactose that is missing. Sammi’s Best™ Whey & Rice has less sugar than milk and about 70% less lactose. The active cultures we have added also help negate or break down the remaining lactose. Acidophilus and Bifidus are lactose fermenting and lactose feeding organisms. An excellent source of probiotics, Sammi’s Best™ Whey & Rice can be used by about 95% of the world’s population without experiencing lactose-related discomforts.

We have found that casein allergies are almost as common as lactose intolerance. Sammi’s Best™ Whey & Rice does not contain insoluble caseins. It does contain sodium caseinate, but this is a soluble casein and is rarely a problem. Comparing our mother’s milk to cow’s milk is a good way to understand the logic behind what we are doing with our Sammi’s Best™ Whey & Rice and why it is a great milk alternative. Mother’s milk is 80% whey (milk plasma) and 20% soluble casein. Cow’s milk is 20% whey and 80% insoluble casein, a phospho-protein that is also used to make glue, paint and plastic. This type of casein is the primary protein and calcium source in bovine milk and a good one -- IF you are a baby cow with four stomachs. Human milk is far different and we think a far better standard. Concerns about contaminants in cow’s milk are eliminated because milk has to be thoroughly cleaned before the whey is separated from the curd. Sammi’s Best™ Whey & Rice is one of the cleanest foods you can find. Sammi’s Best™ Whey & Rice is even easier to digest for the majority of people than our soy product, unless you are 100% intolerant to lactose as we have discussed.

Sammi’s Best™ Whey & Rice, like our Sammi’s Best™ Soy and Soya-Rice, has Calcium Citrate for an excellent source of Calcium. Sammi’s Best™ Whey & Rice also has Brown Rice Fiber, one of the healthiest, most complete single food substances. Brown Rice Fiber includes soluble fiber, trace minerals and over 70 natural antioxidants. The nutrient information concerning the Rice Fiber alone would fill several pages. Sammi’s Best™ Whey & Rice is a delicious way to start improving your diet.
