I want to commend those who called in or e-mailed questions about the misleading rumors regarding soy impairing thyroid function that are so grossly exaggerated/misleading. The healthfulness of few, if any plant is as well documented throughout the World as soybeans. If children drink over three or four gallons of our soymilk a day, they may possibly be getting too much of the same compounds that are so beneficial to health in practical amounts. You may have read the two- page response we sent out on this subject entitled, Soy Products, Are They Really Healthy, The Rumor and Reality? If not, I encourage you to do so for your own information and peace of mind. It will be posted on our website. Unfortunately, when consumers fail to question the validity of claims like these, they have the impact the propagators intended, to slow down soy products 10 years of record sales growth.
8 What YOU Should Know About GMO In 2006:
For the most part the GMO issue is being kept out of the public consciousness. BLI even though a small soy products company, is known by some of the largest ingredient suppliers throughout the food industry not only for innovation and R&D ability, but for taking an early stand on the GMO controversy, like we did on trans-fat. BLI has been featured in several industry publications and has been the focus of articles dealing with GMO. Genetically Modified Seeds grow plants that can be sprayed with the herbicide Roundup. The only reason Non-GMO soy is available is because of the Japanese and European ban on GMO along with buyers like BLI. Producers realize they can charge a premium for IP Non-GMO.
BestLife has maintained that the reasons given for GMO were not valid. The argument for GMO is that it will help feed a hungry world. The argument against, is that the long-term health effects are unknown, as well as the environmental impact from the millions of acres of GM crops over time. Some agricultural experts think it could be extremely serious. Our position, as quoted in the February Non-GMO Source newsletter and magazine is, “The problem in feeding the world isn’t production, it is distribution.” The fact is GM soy crops have NOT demonstrated any increase in yield.

8 Problem Solved, No More Floating Protein:
The floating protein and slow hydration rate, has been corrected. Making a natural Hexane free soymilk using fresh ingredients in a dry form is a challenge compared to liquid products that are homogenized and mixed weeks before shipment. There is nothing wrong with the quality of the hard to mix product, or the taste. The complaints have centered around soy solids that insist on floating back to the top of the pitcher or glass after mixing. Our staff didn’t like it either. The problem started with a load of (fresh) soy with very low moisture content. Our challenge is sort of like trying to keep cream from rising to the top of fresh milk, without doing something un-natural. You will now find product hydration and function much improved after mixing. We appreciate your patience.

Soybeans have been one of the most useful and healthful plants on earth since 1100 AD. At present 87% of American soybeans are genetically modified to resist Round Up.
