Sammi's Best Soy and Soya-Rice have a total calcium content the same as in milk, but our primary calcium source is Calcium Citrate the kind of organic calcium you get in orange juice, one of the most useable types of calcium there is for people. In cow's milk the calcium comes from the calcium caseinate, the insoluble casein in milk responsible for so many allergies. Good source for calves, not so good for people, as evidenced by osteoporosis being a big problem only in those countries where processed milk consumption is high.
Calcium Citrate is 10 times more useable than Calcium Carbonate (used in Silk and other soymilk brands) and about 12 times more expensive to use. Our recommendation for optimum calcium absorption is to take a good magnesium supplement with our products or drink our new diet shake with extra magnesium. Yellow corn meal is an excellent source of magnesium.
A new study presented at the Second Joint Meeting of the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research and the International Bone and Mineral Society documents that calcium citrate supplementation averts bone loss and stabilizes bone density in the spine, femoral neck and radial shaft in early postmenopausal women. For more information on this subject click on the quick links to the right of this article, "Studies indicate calcium citrate can stop bone loss". 8 More
8 How Much Calcium Do I Get in Sammi's Best Soy Milk?
Do I still get as much calcium? That is one of the main reasons I drink milk. One big difference between soy milk and dairy milk is the amount of calcium each naturally contains. While soybeans do have some calcium, "it's not a whole lot," says Cynthia Sass, spokeswoman for the American Dietetic Association.

8 "Soy in Youth Gives Adult a Boost"
Sammi's Best Soymilk is formulated to be a bovine milk replacement for the whole family. It is not a supplement. We intend it to give families that may consume large amounts of milk a week a healthier, cleaner and better tasting alternative. We think it has the proper amount of protein and is better balanced for people, especially children. Bovine milk has too much protein for people. To say different is to say people have more in common with Daisy the cow than they do their mother. The milk industry has propagated many misconceptions and some nutritionist and dietitians wind up repeating the same incorrect assumptions. When asked if they can produce any credible independent clinical research to back up claims that milk is healthy or is a good source of calcium for people our position becomes harder to argue with. The healthiest people in the world have less protein in their diet than the average American.
"A combination of eating soy foods on a regular basis during adolescence together with a regular intake during adulthood could significantly reduce the risk of breast cancer, according to a new study of Asian-American women released this week."
"There has been a lot of talk and controversy about the Asian diet and connections between soy food intake and breast cancer. We wanted to look at soy very carefully, to better understand if soy by itself is protective or if the level of soy consumption is just a marker for acculturation," said Anna H. Wu, professor of preventive medicine at the Keck School of Medicine.

Hints for Making Good Ice Cream:
1. If the ice cream is very soft, the brine is not cold enough. More salt should be added to reduce the
brine temperature.
2. If the ice cream is coarse and icy in less than 20 minutes, the brine has become too cold too quickly.
Too much salt has been used.
3. Use crushed ice for freezing.
4. Mix one heaping cup mix to one cup cold water. Blend in blender for 30-60 seconds.
5. Freeze at least 3 hours before the ice cream is to be served. Some electric ice cream mixers have a
bowl that you put in the freezer. Make sure the bowl is very cold, left in freezer overnight.
6. Add liquid flavors before freezing but if you want to add fruits or nuts, add them after freezing and
